ouTask TD2 Portable Telescopic Light at Refraction Lighting

We’ve added the ouTask TD2 to the range at Refraction Lighting, a portable telescopic light designed to replace several different pieces of outdoor lighting gear with one compact unit.

At first glance, the TD2 looks more like an oversized torch than a traditional camping lantern. Folded down, it measures just 242 mm long, but the integrated telescopic pole extends to approximately 935 mm, allowing the light to sit above a table, campsite or work area when broader illumination is needed.

That combination of compact storage and adjustable height is what makes the TD2 particularly interesting.

More than a camping lantern

The TD2 can produce up to 1,500 lumens and offers both spotlight and floodlight functionality, allowing it to move between more focused illumination and broad area lighting.

The light head can be rotated through a wide range of positions, while the base can also rotate, making it possible to direct light exactly where it is needed without constantly repositioning the entire unit.

Brightness and colour temperature are smoothly adjustable rather than being limited to only a handful of preset levels, so the TD2 can provide warmer ambient light around camp or brighter, cooler illumination for practical tasks.

Built-in telescopic stand

One of the TD2’s most distinctive features is its integrated stand.

The legs fold directly into the body for transport and open when the light needs to stand independently. The telescopic pole then raises the light head to almost a metre high, giving it a much larger effective lighting area than a conventional lantern sitting on a table.

The base also incorporates a strong magnetic mounting system, allowing the TD2 to attach to suitable steel surfaces such as vehicle panels, equipment or other metal structures.

For camping, touring and vehicle setups, that gives you a lot of flexibility without needing to carry a separate tripod or light stand.

Useful beyond the campsite

Although the TD2 is obviously well suited to camping, it also makes sense as a general-purpose portable work light.

The combination of adjustable height, magnetic mounting, spotlight and floodlight modes makes it useful for:

Power comes from a replaceable battery system using 21700 cells, rather than a permanently sealed battery pack.

The TD2 charges through USB-C and can also operate as a USB-C power bank for charging compatible devices when required.

Being able to replace the battery is particularly useful for longer trips or frequent use, as it allows additional charged batteries to be carried rather than having to stop using the light while it recharges.

Designed for outdoor use

The TD2 uses a predominantly metal construction and is designed to handle outdoor conditions, with water resistance across the light head, telescopic section and main body.

Despite the integrated stand, telescopic pole and battery system, the whole unit remains compact enough to store easily in a vehicle, camping kit or equipment case.
